【摘要】:Manytypesofpaper,particularlybonds,ledgers,index,andbookpapersareboughtonthebasisoffibercomposition.Thistestmethodisusedtoevaluatethefibersinthepaperandtoensurethepurchaserthatthecompositionandtypesoffibersareinaccordancewiththespecifications.Itwillalsoshowwhetherthecompositionisfreeofinferiorfiberswhichthespecificationsparticularlyprohibit.Itisalsosignificantastothestructureandqualityofthepaper.Inorderthattheexaminationmaybeinterpretedintopracticalsignificance,itisimportantthattheanalystshouldbeexperiencedinthefieldofpulpandpapermicroscopy.Foraccurateresults,considerabletrainingandexperiencearenecessary.Theanalystshouldmakefrequentuseofstandardsamplesofknowncompositionorofauthenticfibersamplesandshouldbecomethoroughlyfamiliarwiththeappearanceofthedifferentfibersandtheirbehaviorwhentreatedwiththevariousstains.Morphologicalcharacteristicsidentifyspecialfiberssuchasstraw,flax,esparto,andcertaintypesofwood,suchassouthernpine,Douglasfir,westernhemlock,andvariousspeciesofhardwoods,sothatthecorrectweightfactorsmaybeapplied.Aknowledgeofmorphologicalcharacteristicsofthedifferentfibersishelpfuland,insomecases,essentialfortheiridentification.SomeinformationonthissubjectisgivenintheAppendixes.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheidentificationofthekindsoffiberspresentinasampleofpaperandtheirquantitativeestimation.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
