【摘要】:Compressiontestingofsoil-limespecimensisperformedtodetermineunconfinedcompressivestrengthofthecuredsoil-lime-watermixturetodeterminethesuitabilityofthemixtureforusessuchasinpavementbasesandsubbases,stabilizedsubgrades,andstructuralfills.Compressivestrengthdataareusedinsoil-limemixdesignprocedures:(a)todetermineifasoilwillachieveasignificantstrengthincreasewiththeadditionoflime;(b)togroupsoil-limemixturesintostrengthclasses;(c)tostudytheeffectsofvariablessuchaslimepercentage,unitweight,watercontent,curingtime,curingtemperature,etc.;and(d)toestimateotherengineeringpropertiesofsoil-limemixtures.Limeisgenerallyclassifiedascalciticordolomitic.Usuallyinsoilstabilization,high-calciumlime[CaO]ordolomiticlime[CaO+MgO]areused.Thelimeistransformedfromoxidetohydroxideform[[Ca(OH)2or[Ca(OH)2+Mg(OH)2]]bytheadditionofwaterinthesoil,aslurrytank,oratamanufacturingfacility.Limemayincreasethestrengthofcohesivesoil.Thetypeoflimeincombinationwithsoiltypeinfluencestheresultingcompressivestrength.Note28212;TheagencyperformingthistestmethodcanbeevaluatedinaccordancewithPracticeD3740.Notwithstandingstatementsonprecisionandbiascontainedinthismethod:Theprecisionofthistestmethodisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilityused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting.UsersofthistestmethodarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnot,initself,ensurereliabletesting.Reliabletestingdependsonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthesefactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresforpreparing,curing,andtestinglaboratory-compactedspecimensofsoil-limeandotherlime-treatedmaterials(Note1)fordeterminingunconfinedcompressivestrength.Thistestmethodcanbeusedforspecimenspreparedatthemaximumunitweightandoptimumwatercontent,orforspecimenspreparedatothertargetunitweightandwatercontentlevels.OtherapplicationsaregiveninSection5onSignificanceandUse.Note18212;Lime-basedproductsotherthancommercialquicklimeandhydratedlimearealsousedinthelimetreatmentoffine-grainedcohesivesoils.Limekilndust(LKD)iscollectedfromthekilnexhaustgasesbycyclone,electrostatic,orbaghouse-typecollectionsystems.SomelimeproducershydratevariousblendsofLKDplusquicklimetoproducealime-basedproduct.1.2Coredspecimensofsoil-limeshouldbetestedinaccordancewithTestMethodsD2166.1.3Twoalternativeproceduresareprovided:1.3.1ProcedureAdescribesproceduresforpreparingandtestingcompactedsoil-limespecimenshavingheight-to-diameterratiosbetween2.00and2.50.Thistestmethodprovidesthestandardmeasureofcompressivestrength.1.3.2ProcedureBdescribesproceduresforpreparingandtestingcompactedsoil-limespecimensusingTestMethods
